It is translated into over 500 languages worldwide, with new translations coming up almost yearly.
#2 Quotations From Chairman Mao
This is a book of speeches, statements, and writings by Mao Zedong the former Chairperson of the Communist Party of China, published from 1964 to about 1976 and widely distributed during the Cultural Revolution.
Sales distribution figures estimated from 800 million to over 6.5 billion printed volumes. This is by the Cambridge University Press.
#3 Harry Potter Series
According to Forbes, 2017, Harry Potter by J.K.Rowling. A fantasy novel about a young wizard and his friends has sold over 500 million copies worldwide, with 12 million books printed in the first U.S run.
#4 The Lord Of The Rings
This book by J.R.R Tolkien, published in 1954, comes in fourth, being a high fantasy novel. It had started with the hobbit and then developed. In 2007 the Toronto Star called it a best-selling novel with over 150 million copies.
#5 The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho in 1988 authored this allegorical novel in Portuguese, about The Alchemist who follows a young Andalusian shepherd in his journey to Egypt’s pyramids. It is estimated to have more than 100 million copies.
